Bernhard Zaglmayer studied law at the Karl-Franzens University of Innsbruck Austria. He started his career as a scientific researcher at the KU Leuven, working for the European Institute of Social Security, where he has been involved in projects related to social security law of the Council of Europe and the European Union. He has been working for the EFTA Surveillance Authority since 2006, first as legal case handler in the Internal Market Affairs Directorate and, since 2011, as Deputy Director of that Directorate.
His main expertise is social security law (national and international) and European law in relation to free movement of persons, in particular social security coordination law and recognition of professional qualifications.
