Bart De Meester is member of the legal service of the European Commission (Team trade policy and WTO). He worked as a lawyer at Sidley Austin LLP in Geneva, and before that, as a lawyer at the Trade in Services Division of the World Trade Organisation. He was a researcher at the Institute of international law at the KU Leuven. He wrote a PhD on European and international liberalization of trade in banking services at the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO). He published several articles on international economic law, including in the “Journal of International Economic Law”, “Journal of World Trade” and “European Business Law Review”. He is the author of several books. He regularly lectures on international economic law and is an Associate Member of the Leuven Center for Global Governance Studies.
