Bibi van Ginkel, LL.M. is a Senior Research Fellow at the Clingendael Institute. She focuses on legal aspects of combating terrorism in both a national and an international context. She also lectures on International Law at the MA International Relations and Diplomacy (Leiden University and Clingendael). In addition to her work at Clingendael, she is a fellow at the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT) in The Hague.
Prior to joining Clingendael she lectured International law at Utrecht University. She is General Secretary of the Netherlands Helsinki Committee and a member of the Peace and Security Committee of the Advisory Council of International Affairs.
She graduated in International and European Law at Utrecht University in 1996. She was awarded her doctorate at the same university in 2010 on a dissertation on the practice of the United Nations on combating terrorism.
